Dell's back in the ol' tablet game, throwing its hat in the ring with a range of new Venue tablets with Android, and Venue Pro tablets with Windows. There are two of each: the Venue 7 and 8 have screens of that many inches, and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, upgrading to 4.4 KitKat at some unspecified point in the future. The Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro (also the screen size) both run full Windows 8.1. Let's start with the Windows slates. The Venue 11 Pro (pictured above) is similar to Microsoft's Surface Pro 2, in that you can use it as a normal tablet, as a laptop with an attached keyboard dock, or as a desktop in a USB dock hooked up to a monitor (the docks are sold separately).

The Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition's main draw is its stock version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Its lovely 6.4-inch full HD LCD screen ain't bad either. The glass backing of the Z Ultra makes for a smudge and fingerprint magnet. Despite its massive screen size, the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition is breathtakingly thin. On the bottom edge of the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition is a lone speaker.
