When he was 8, violin lessons were added to his schedule, and ballet lessons followed at age 9, He was fascinated by dance, with its combination of deep musicality and athleticism, At age 18, with his family’s encouragement, he endured 23 days of travel via cargo ship to Poland for further development and study, During his eight-year Polish sojourn, he enrolled at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, suffered a knee injury that inhibited his ballet study and eventually began singing with a Polish song and dance ensemble called “Slask.” Since Poland at that time was still dominated by Communism, he had to adjust to a very different and materially poor environment than what he had experienced in Brazil, “Yet, I loved Poland,” he affirmed, “The culture there sterling silver ballet shoe pendant was so rich and varied, that what I didn’t have of the material comforts I was used to in Brazil simply didn’t matter!”..
