Sure, you’ve seen about a zillion productions of “A Christmas Carol” and/or its endless iterations, but it’s the words “the Musical” in the name of Hillbarn Theatre’s current Christmas offering that sets it apart — and breathes new life ballet shoes in undertale into Dickens’ oft-told tale, This is a kinder, gentler “Carol” than in many versions offered up during the holidays, and it has a kinder, gentler Scrooge than usually depicted, That’s partially due to the way the storyline is interpreted by director Dan Demers, but also by the persona of this particular Scrooge, Christopher Reber, who has a glint of eagerness in his eye to be redeemed as a lovable, charitable person.  (He’s a darned good dancer to boot!)..

Stella May Lerwill was born on July 6, 1910, in Payson, Utah, the seventh of 12 children of John and Annie Lerwill. Her father, a farmer, had the first Ford sold in town, but it wasn’t until she was 90 that she got a driver’s license. At the age of 18 she took her first airplane ride with her brothers, who were taking lessons. She was 18 when she met Thomas Lee Beer on a blind date. They dated for two years, marrying in 1931. In 1932, after the birth of their first daughter Bonita, Beer hopped a freight train to California and found work in a sugar factory in Tracy. It was there that daughter Leanne was born.
